Dressel Library

The St. Vincent’s Academy Dressel Library is located on the second floor of the Convent building. The library and its collection is named in honor of Peg Flanagan Dressel, a beloved Master English teacher of more than 30 years who also served as head of the English department for much of that time.

Our library offers a wide variety of resources including print and electronic formats to support academic research and pleasure reading. Students can locate library resources using our web-based automated catalog of holdings and other database services, including GALILEO (GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online), from any Internet-connected device. Students are encouraged to use the library and its resources throughout the school day, independently and with classes. Our dedicated librarian is available to teach and assist students in locating, evaluating, and using information effectively.

The librarian is available to assist all students with research questions and materials selection. In addition, the librarian teaches an information literacy session, which is included in all ninth grade English classes. Topics include how to make a bibliography page, how to access, locate, and present information, and strategies for thinking critically.
