sva sophomore raises nearly $23,000 for JDRF

SVA sophomore Sadie Albert led a fundraiser to support JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) in its mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes recently and raised nearly $23,000!!

Here is a link to highlights of what the JDRF helped advance in 2022: https://www.jdrf.org/blog/2022/12/09/what-we-proud-2022/

Sadie is most excited about the stem-cell based research and the “amazing results” that JDRF is seeing with the clinical trials. A man who was living with type 1 is now cured meaning he is off insulin entirely! After an infusion of stem cells into his body, insulin production was restored meaning no more insulin pump and no more insulin shots- wow! This is huge – even if we’re talking about the results of only one person! It is the beginning of something Sadie has dreamed about for years – an actual cure for type 1.

Every dollar that goes to JDRF goes toward finding a cure and improving the lives of people like Sadie who have type 1. Thank you Sadie for your hard work for this most worthy cause . . . we are so proud!
